After the threat, Bandra police registered a case against the unknown caller under Sections 308 (extortion with threats of death or serious harm) and 351 (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The police official confirmed that the call, demanding Rs 50 lakh, had the intent to intimidate the actor.

Faizan Khan’s account of his stolen phone was corroborated by a complaint he had previously filed at the Khamardih police station about the theft. Authorities are continuing their investigation to identify the real culprit behind the threat.
